dkissko, Welcome and Thank you for visiting our forum!
Give us more info. about yourself.
At my employer six minutes your safe but when you go over 7 minutes you are cosidered TARDY. I'm not sure if that's a law with DOL.
OnYourSide, should know this area pretty well....

No, it's not a "law" in any state that I'm aware of, but if you want to tell us what state you're in, I'll check your state's wage and hour website and tell you for sure.

That's normally set by company policy. Your employer doesn't have to give you ANY "grace" period. Here's what I tell my kids: don't depend on a "grace period". Plan on getting to work 15 minutes EARLY every day and you never have to worry about being late. You don't actually start working 15 minutes early - just BE THERE 15 minutes early so you don't have to worry. Adding 15 minutes to the front end of your day is no big deal.

OYS I sure could apply that advice (rule of thumb)to myself! I'm sure you have heard of a culture who's always late!!!!....well I am part of "THAT" culture. I live 3 blocks away from work amd I'm still rushing to get there on time. I am not an early bird.......

    Welcome to the forum, dkissko.

Where I used to work, one day four of us coming into town on the same highway were 1 & 2 minutes late due to an accident. We had to take 5 minutes of annual leave because of it. At other offices in the state, you just adjust your work day (like take it off a break) or they don't worry about 1 or 2 minutes as long as there is a legitimate excuse for WHY the employee was late.
